PayPal migrate to Openstack

Internet companies eBay and PayPal have decided to refuse from systems virtualization and cloud VMware and transfer a certain amount of open system servers to OpenStack.

Just eBay and PayPal now has about 80,000 servers. This was in an interview with Business Insider said board member OpenStack Foundation Boris Rennes.

Rennes also works for Mirantis, co-founder of which he is, and says that they are working on practical implementation of OpenStack and now many Western companies are now actively discussing the transition to cloud solutions for open source. Earlier Mirantis also worked on OpenStack with Dell, Intel and several other IT companies worldwide.

Rennes says that now his company is working with PayPal and advises on the implementation of OpenStack, and gave their own PayPal solution Fuel production.

According to him, the first phase of transition, PayPal would lead to about 10 000 VMware servers. By summer, these machines must earn based OpenStack. Further, the company will evaluate the results of transition and may continue further introduction.
