Germany's Siemens plans to give up the business of producing solar panels

Germany's Siemens plans to give up the business of producing solar panels, after the company hopes to develop alternative energy were not fulfilled, and the German government has rolled measures to support manufacturers of solar energy solutions.  The Wall Street Journal  tells on this day.

At Siemens said that the company is in talks with several potential buyers of the business. Siemens itself has got this area three years ago, bought for 418 million dollars Israeli company Solel Solar Systems and later adding her share of Siemens in the Italian Archimede Solar Energy. Then, Siemens announced that the company intends to become one of the world's leading solar energy.


Analysts say that selling the business to produce solar panels, Siemens does not go away with the alternative energy market completely. The company has saved more production capacity for wind turbines, hydrogen generation and solutions for thermal power generation. Earlier, Siemens plan the development and direction of nuclear energy, but after the tragedy at the Japanese nuclear power plant, as well as a wave of protests in Germany, the company refused and the plans.


At Siemens said that so far the solution for solar energy represent a small share of the overall balance of sales 300 million euros from 73.5 billion euros of revenue a year for the company.
