Microsoft Surface sales off to 'modest' start

Sales of the new Internet Tablet Microsoft Surface began a "modest", though all of the primary party gadget and were sold out in just over a week.

 In an interview with French newspaper Le Parisien said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

According to him, some "modest" sales - a consequence of the limited capacity of own sales channels. Surface now only available in the online catalog Microsoft Store, as well as in American retail and in several European countries. "Demand for tablets has been sufficient to ensure that all channels of sales margin products was over in about a week" - Ballmer said.

He also pointed out to the Surface is available for sale, but in very limited quantities. In an interview with the French newspaper Ballmer did not disclose specific figures for the sale of the tablet, but he noted that "on the way" more powerful version of Surface c Intel-based Windows 8.


He said that the x86-version of the tablet will have a 1.2 cm in thickness, weight about 900g and will run on processor-based third-generation Core i5 Ivy Bridge, integrated graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD-drives . In addition, these devices will have a 10.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

The cost of these types of tablets is not disclosed, but Microsoft plans to publish them to the beginning of next year. Analysts say that for the price these devices will be comparable to ultrabook Intel.
