Oracle buys DataRaker

Oracle plans to acquire the company DataRaker, which will in future offer customers a dedicated Oracle cloud platform for the analysis of data from smartmetrov used for metering of electricity, water, gas and other resources. Terms of the deal, which was announced today, is not publicly disclosed.

Experts say that smartmetry or 'smart meters' generate large amounts of data, which is often associated with new-fangled concept of 'big data' - huge amounts of unstructured data in different formats. In Oracle say now awaiting absorption DataRaker and after the deal closes, the company will offer new functionality in their decisions, focused on the world of housing.

More specifically on the business plans with data DataRaker Oracle plans to announce later, now only states that the products acquired company will become part of the proposals Oracle Utilities.
